This is my own recipe for arrabiata pasta sauce. An arrabiata sauce should be spicy hot. Use this as a starting point, and see what kinds of sauces you can create.
Ruth's Arrabiata Pasta Sauce
whole brine-packed black olives - a small jar - drained and sliced
a large jar of commercial pasta sauce
hot dried pepper flakes to taste
fresh sliced mushrooms to taste
a lot of chopped fresh basil leaves
1. Sauté the mushrooms slightly in calorie-free cooking spray.
2. Add the mushrooms, the olives, and the hot pepper flakes to the canned sauce.
3. Simmer to meld flavors.

After dinner in an apartment in Florence, Italy. The wine, bread, melon, and olives are gone. Only a bit of cheese is left.
