Here's another recipe from my old aluminum recipe box. I used to make this quick and easy cake a lot when the kids were young. As a working mother, anything that could be made easily was a good thing.
Cherry Dump Cake
2 cans of cherry pie filling (I always use the "lite" filling.)
1 white cake mix
1 stick of butter or oleo
1/2 c chopped walnuts, or to taste
1. Dump the cherry pie filling into a 9" by 13" cake pan, and spread in an even layer.
2. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the pie filling evenly.
3. Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the cake mix.
4. Slice the stick of butter thinly and place all over the top of the cake mix.
Bake at 350° until done, about an hour.
Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
