I have made this custard for all my life, and my mother, and possibly her mother, before me. It is a simple, basic custard baked in one cup, glass, baking cups which are still called "custard cups." Ruth

Cup Custard
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c granulated sugar
2 and 1/2 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
nutmeg
1. Add sugar to beaten eggs
2. Add milk and vanilla, mix.
3. Pour into custard cups.
4. Sprinkle custard with nutmeg.
Heat oven to350 degrees.
Stand cups in a pan with one inch of hot water and bake until firm in the center when tested with a silver knife.
