Here's another recipe from a yellowed card in my aluminum recipe box. I've obviously had it for years and years. It is titled "Hot Potato Salad." Somewhere along the line this salad became "German" potato salad. My mother's mother made it a lot, but I'm not sure if this is her recipe.

Whatever, I can tell you that it's a truly traditional hot potato salad that has stood the test of time. I had it just tonight at my sister's house for dinner.

Hot (German) Potato Salad

6 medium potatoes
1/4 lb bacon, diced
1 med onion, chopped
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 c water
1/2 c vinegar
1 T flour
salt and pepper

1. Cook potatoes and dice.
2. In a large skillet, fry bacon until lightly browned; add onion and cook until tender.
3. Mix salt, pepper, mustard, sugar, and flour.
4. Add liquids.
5. Add the mustard mixture and potatoes to the bacon and onions in the skillet.
6. Heat until sauce is thickened. About 5 minutes.
