Judy Youngdoff in Kansas City, Kansas, sent me this recipe. It comes from her husband’s, Larry’s, family. It sounds so good to me that I’d have one on a frigid winter day whether I had a cold or not.

Hot Toddy for Colds

2 c water

1/2 c sugar

1/4 c lemon juice

1/2 tsp ground cloves

2 c bourbon

8 maraschino cherries, optional,  (but they made the drink 'go down' a bit smoother!)

Combine the first 4 ingredients, and heat ‘til very hot and the sugar is dissolved.  Stir in bourbon.  Add cherries.  Serve immediately.     (Guaranteed to make you sleep, cold or no cold!)
