This was my mother's recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies, and she probably got it from her mother. These rich and crumbly cookies melt in your mouth! I should know. I've eaten enough of them!

This recipe resides, yellowed and spotted, in my aluminum recipe box, where it has lived for many, many years.

Mom's Peanut Butter Cookies

Preheat oven to 400 °

Spray cookie sheets, or use parchment paper

1 c fat
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar, packed
salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 c peanut butter
3 c flour

1. Cream fat, salt, and sugars together.
2. Stir in eggs.
3. Add peanut butter and vanilla.
4. Sift in dry ingredients (flour and baking soda). Mix well.
5. Form in to balls. Put balls on cookie sheet and press flat in a criss-cross pattern with a fork.

Bake until edges are brown.
