Here's an old recipe from my aluminum recipe box. I scribbled notes in pencil over the original ink recipe on the card; it's a recipe I used a lot when the kids were growing up. I always felt kids deserved a full cookie jar all the time. Mine was on a pantry shelf at kid height.

Oatmeal or Coconut Cookies

1 c brown sugar
1/2 c white sugar
6 T fat, melted (margarine or butter)
1 c flour
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 c sour milk
1/2 c chopped nuts
1/2 c chopped raisins
3 c oats or coconut (or a mix of both)

1. Beat eggs, sugars, and salt.
2. Add melted fat, milk, and oats or coconut.
3. Add dry ingredients.
4. Blend in nuts and raisins.

5. Drop by teaspoon on well-greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375° for oatmeal, 350° for coconut, until edges brown.
