My father loved to make sweets, especially candy. He had several "specialties," like several kinds of fudge, molasses popcorn balls, and Crystallized Walnuts. He made these nuts every now and again, and sent me batches of them while I was in college.
Crystallized Walnuts
1 cup walnut meats
1/2 c brown sugar
2 T water
a little salt
1. Boil the sugar and water until it spins a thread. (240 degrees
2. Salt the nuts. A them to the sugar mixture.
3. Stir until the candy sugars onto the nuts.
4. Dump our on a platter and separate the nuts while still warm.
